Raymond again touches emotional chord
Fri, Jan 01, 2010 09:00:00 AM

Raymond is back with another tug at the heartstrings. RK Swamy BBDO has come up with a new TVC for Raymond. The film directed by Ashim Ahluwalia of Future East Films shows actor Vivan Bhatena playing the role of 'The Complete Man'

This time, our perfect gentleman in his lovely suit that always feels so nice, takes the time and effort to call on school teacher in an old age home on his birthday and turn his tears of loneliness to tears of joy by teleporting his grandson and children from some faraway place via the joys of modern technology, through a Web cam and a laptop computer.

The grandson sings a little “happy birthday” song which feels like heaven, and the elderly gentleman gratefully reaches out to the perfect gentleman to complete yet another film that feels distinctly like Raymond. The memorable signature tune, an adherence to an emotional connect and a familiar look and feel, all contribute to a nice warm sensation. Raymond and R.K. Swamy BBDO seem to have decided that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Very true.

Commenting on the thought process behind the ad, Sangeetha N, President (West) and Executive Creative Director, RK Swamy BBDO, said, “The film draws inspiration from real life situations, where parents and their children are forced to endure long distance relationships due to pressures of building a career, whether in other towns in India or abroad.”

Shailen Sohoni, COO, Mumbai, RK Swamy BBDO, explained, “Strategically, it was important for ‘The Complete Man’ to graduate to a more socially inclusive role that is relevant, yet remains true to the DNA of the brand. The commercial blends these tasks seamlessly.”
