The Delhi High Court has vacated the stay on Dainik Bhaskar, Ranchi edition enabling the newspaper to use the Ranchi dateline.
Sanjay Aggarwal, co-owner of the title Dainik Bhaskar, filed a petition at the office of the district magistrate, Ranchi against the expansion of the publication in the state capital, saying that the planned launch did not have his approval and any decision on the new editions would require mutual consent.
Aggarwal was given stay by the single bench of Judge Muralidharan of Delhi High Court. Later, this matter was forwarded to the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court, but he refused to hear this case himself. Then the matter was sent to two member bench of Court no. 2. This bench had kept its decision safe after hearing this case a few days earlier. In today's judgment, the court acted in favor of DB Corp management and allowed it to publish newspaper from Ranchi.
On the other hand, not accepting this defeat, Sanjay Aggarwal and company are preparing to challenge this decision in the Supreme Court. There are many active cases against the RNI and DB Corp in the courts and their judgments are due.
This is the 12th state the group has its footprints in, including Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Chandigarh, Punjab, Maharashtra, Haryana, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Delhi. The Ranchi edition is the 49th edition of the group.
The group also plans to expand in the state with the launch of Jamshedpur and Dhandbad editions, which will be followed by the launch of the newspaper in Bihar in early 2011.
